About this event

Do you have some old tools collecting dust because you’re not sure how to use them? Are you unsure when to use a handsaw or a circular saw? Do power tools seem too intimidating? Why do they call it a “plane” if it doesn’t fly? We’ll answer all these questions and more in this intro to tool usage. Get hands on tips and advice in this free-form class and walk away more confident in your ability to start building/crafting/repairing.

No prior experience is needed! Bring a friend, a positive attitude, and any questions you have about building, repairing, or creating things around the house.

From the Instructor: Jon Jennings, Jon's Board

"Hi, I'm Jon and I make things. From building blocks as a child to custom furniture as an adult, creating things for others makes me happy. I grew up in Western Tennessee in a lower middle class family so I know what it's like to struggle and go without. I worked my way thru college and grad school and into a corporate career as a mathematician and data scientist. I spend my nights and weekends in the garage, building furniture and home goods to donate to folks who might be struggling like my parents were. Each item I sell helps to fund those donations and make someone's life a little bit easier. I dream of a day when being a maker is my full time job and I can help even more people. Until then, you can catch me in my garage or around town with my two Siberian Huskies."
