The bureau will host Fall Shred Day on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. parking lot in Chattanooga to help safely dispose of unneeded documents.
Brandon Johns, senior pastor at Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church, will be nominated for a regional leadership role at the Tennessee Baptists’ annual meeting in November at Sevierville Convention Center.
If confirmed, he will become the second pastor to serve in that position.

Taco Mamacita in Hamilton Place is facing customer confusion due to construction on its entrance as part of Hamilton Place Boulevard improvements – drivers now follow a new sign for access.
TDOT said the completed driveway will change access by Friday, Sept. 25.

Author L.E. Carmichael's new book, The Matilda Effect: How 25 Women Were Erased From History, covers forgotten women in STEM, sports, arts and politics using local example of pitcher Jackie Mitchell + inspires readers with her story.
The book releases Oct. 6 with an alternative date of Oct. 27.

Hamilton County school board members approved mandatory displays of the Ten Commandments in schools during a Thursday meeting (for entryways, cafeterias, or common areas), specifying that taxpayer dollars cannot fund the postings.
The decision passed along party lines following a recent Tennessee law permitting such displays.

UTC football routed Wofford 41-7 (in their Southern Conference opener) at Finley Stadium Saturday night.
Running back Journey Wyche led with 122 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Mocs improved to a 2-2 record after earlier losses.
