Ornament Making with Lissie Ceramics

About this event

Join Elizabeth of Lissie Ceramics for a two hour class in which you will use clay to design, shape, and paint 3-4 ornaments. We will add kiln safe hooks to each ornament for hanging. Painting is completely optional, you can leave the clay to be glazed as is if you so wish.

All of the clay and materials will be provided for you at the Studio Ours classroom. Please feel free to bring any other items you'd like to use i.e. cookie cutters, stamps, any other tools that speak to you!

Once the ornaments are completely dry, they will be fired one time in a bisque fire and then again, after they've been glazed in a glaze fire. Each piece will be glazed in a clear glaze to display the paint. Ornaments will be ready for your own decorating additions of ribbon, string, and ornament hooks. You will receive an email 2-3 weeks after the class when your ornaments are ready and you will pickup your ornament at Studio Ours.

*While I will do my best to provide the best firing environment for your ornaments, there are no promises with ceramics. Pieces may crack, break, crawl or explode. This is part of the ceramics journey.

A little about the instructor:

I started taking pottery classes in 2021 after realizing that I desired more creativity in my life. Pottery quickly became a passion (obsession) for me. Working from community studios for several years, I converted my basement into a home studio. My work is meant for everyday play. Pieces that make you smile when you reach for them or see them in your home.
